Shelby Hensler
-With an Exercise Science and Sociology degree from UC Santa Barbara, Shelby Hensler has emulated the living style of a true athlete. Not only did she play Division I softball, she continued her passion as an assistant coach for the following two years. As a child she worked out to Jane Fonda cementing her love to training and has become one of the most influential trainers in Orange County. Her attention to detail, nutritional knowledge, and consideration to time, sets her apart to all her clients. Shelby is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), CPR, Spinning, and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). OC Balanced Training is lucky to have Shelby as one of trainers to join the team.

Shelby has changed my entire outlook on health and fitness for the better. She is the most inspirational, dedicated and informative “trainer”. Actually, the word “trainer” does not do her justice as she is more of a life coach and an educator. She does not believe in diets or burn-out exercise; she believes in lifestyle change, which means that sustaining healthy choices is attainable. Shelby truly cares for all of her clients and adjusts to the needs of the individual, which is imperative when dealing with different personalities, strengths and weaknesses. She is positive and passionate about improving the overall mental and physical well-being of our society one soul at a time and she has already made an undeniable difference in my life! I definitely noticed a difference in my metabolism during, and even after bootcamp.
I participated in three sessions of Shelby’s outdoor boot camp. It was challenging and also really fun! The workouts pushed me farther than I could ever go on my own. I definitely noticed a difference in my metabolism during, and even after bootcamp.
Shelby is so knowledgeable about working out and life fitness. She also has an extensive understanding of nutrition, which helped guide me through my weight loss journey. She taught me a lot about hormones and the effect they have on the body. I really appreciate how she always makes herself available to help in any way she can towards my goals of better health! I can’t wait for her next bootcamp!

Shelby met me where I was at, but also inspired and encouraged me to strive for more.
Training with Shelby Hensler was an amazing experience. I had been pretty athletic in high school, but by the time I got to graduate school, I had gotten rather out of shape. I joined the gym near my house and bought some personal training sessions to help jumpstart my new healthy lifestyle, and I was paired with Shelby and I still feel like I won the lottery with that pairing. Shelby met me where I was at, but also inspired and encouraged me to strive for more. The workouts were not boring, such as Shelby walking me around a circuit of stationary weight machines, but the workouts were extraordinarily athletic and diverse. Some days she would incorporate kickboxing into the workout, some days it would be plyometrics, some days it would be free weights focused, but every time I trained with Shelby I was interested, motivated and challenged, and I was ALWAYS sore the next day.
Shelby always shared with me her goals for me, and wanted to help me reach mine. She explained what we were doing, why we were doing it and how it was going to help. I didn’t only have a personal trainer with Shelby, but I had a fitness educator. I, sadly, no longer train with Shelby, but I still use and apply almost everything she showed and taught me when I exercise now. With Shelby as my trainer, I received a patient, hardworking, fun, selfless, motivating, upbeat (but not too upbeat), creative, challenging, inspiring and amazing guide along the path to physical fitness, something for which I cannot be too grateful. Like I said, training with Shelby Hensler was an amazing experience.

Training with Shelby has been a very positive and rewarding experience. Not only have I been able to achieve my goals, I was able to exceed them and set new more aggressive goals.
